Yankee Seaports

2024

Yankee Seaports was my second cruise on the American Independence. The first three ports of call were new to me - I had never been on Long Island, or visited Old Saybrook or New London - but the latter ports I was revisiting places I had been on past cruises.

After a number of cruises, I sometimes know some of the officers and crew from previous cruises. I knew the Hotel Manager and First Mate; on other cruises I have had one captain on at least four past cruises, several Cruise Directors at least twice, etc.

Details on the cruise and excursion options are on the American Cruise Lines website; this was NYC to Boston, but the cruise runs both ways.  I’ve included the ACL descriptions for the excursions I did, usually one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  My own comments are in italics.

Most of the photos have embedded GPS data, so if you care you can see where each was taken, usually to within a few meters.  I haven’t edited them in any way.  The photos have been size-reduced for the web, but I’d be happy to send you full-size individual photos, or a DVD with all of the photos.  I’ve also added a map showing where each day’s photos were taken.

Most of the photos were taken on my iPhone, and a few on my Sony compact camera.  The iPhone has a great camera, but sometimes it’s hard to see the screen outdoors, and/or the Sony has 30x optical zoom.

To see the photos for each day, use the links at the top of each page.

May 27 - June 3, 2024

This was my first 2024 cruise, ignoring the New Year’s cruise that was partially in 2024; I have a few more coming up this year.
